Trainers, lecturers, students and other people on training courses welcome at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast, Southbourne, Bournemouth

Today I thought I'd chat about people who are on training or teaching courses, either as trainers, lecturers or as students, in Southbourne, Bournemouth or Poole to whom I can offer discount accommodation.

I'm constantly amazed at the number of further education (FE) training establishments there are in the Bournemouth and Poole area, including Bournemouth University, the flying schools, the English as a foreign language schools (EFL) and many other colleges of further education.

Then there is the state education system, with primary schools, junior schools, secondary schools, middle and upper schools, who sometimes have visiting education officials or bank teachers who are filling in for staff vacancies or sickness.

I suppose Bournemouth and Poole is an ideal place for teaching and training because there are so many places to visit whilst on training courses and, for the teachers and trainers, there is a ready availability of low cost medium term accommodation bookable at discount rates in bed and breakfast hotels and guest houses like mine.

So, if you are on a training or further education (FE) course, as a trainer, teacher or student, and you are looking for accommodation for one or several days each week while you are attending a training or teaching course, give me a telephone call and I will try to arrange a discount package for your accommodation with or without breakfast that will suit us both.

As they say, it's great to talk :-)

Southbourne bed and breakfast with flexible breakfast times

Today, I thought it would be nice to chat about how we can arrange flexible breakfast times at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house B & B in Southbourne, Bournemouth.

Sometimes there are good reasons why it is particularly important for you to have your breakfast outside the breakfast times we usually work to. In these cases we will be happy to provide you with a nice breakfast on a tray in your bedroom or whatever else is convenient.

So, at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast, we are very flexible. If you want room only, that is fine. If you want vegetarian breakfast, we can provide it instead of a full English. Although we are a breakfast only establishment, you are welcome to use the dining room at other times for eating and there are facilities for you to store and microwave food on an informal basis.

At Southbourne bed and breakfast Newpoint Hotel, you always come first so, if you need something, just ask and we will do our best for you.

To check out your special requirements, simply call (01202) 425047.

I look forward to hearing from you :-)

Room only hotel accommodation at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house B and B, Southbourne, Bournemouth, Dorset

Over time, my regular mid-week room only budget accommodation contractors often become friends and it is always sad to say goodbye when they obtain contracts in other areas.

However, the upside is that there are always new and interesting people out there looking for low cost regular room only hotel or guest house accommodation for a few days each week while they are working on a contract in Southbourne, Bournemouth or Poole or in the nearby areas of Dorset - plus it is always nice to meet new people!

So, if you are looking for cheap room only hotel accommodation in Southbourne, Bournemouth, I would be happy to hear from you. I offer extremely low rates for regular weekday bookings out of peak season for single bedrooms with or without en-suite facilities. Doubles with en-suites may also be available by special arrangement. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities and television.

Of course, if you are a contractor looking for weekly accommodation for a few days each week including full bed and breakfast , I will be pleased to provide you each day with a nourishing full English breakfast or vegetarian breakfast, if you prefer, and, of course, the famous Newpoint smile :-)

Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast dining room facilities

Yesterday I wrote about how we provide optional vegetarian breakfasts at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house B & B as an alternative to the full English and today I thought I would continue the meals theme by talking about lunchtime and evening meals.

At Newpoint, we don't provide lunchtime and evening meals because there are so many great places to eat out locally but we welcome guests using the dining room to eat meals they have brought in.

Also, we do provide a fridge freezer, toasters and microwave in the breakfast room for guest's convenience and storage on an informal basis.

If you would like to know more about keeping food costs down and how we can help, call me on (01202) 425047.

Vegetarian and special diet bed and breakfast accommodation at Newpoint Hotel guest house B and B

It's amazing how often people ask me whether Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house (B & B) accommodation caters for special diets and vegetarian meals.

As it happens, both myself and my husband Noel are both vegetarians out of choice and Noel even has a tendency to prefer vegan.

Naturally, though, many who visit our B & B enjoy a full traditional English breakfast to set them off well for the days excursions and we are more than happy to oblige with generous portions.

But for those who need or prefer a vegetarian diet because of their preference, their Muslim or Jewish religious faith, their health condition because they are diabetic, coeliac or on dialysis (we have a dialysis unit nearby) , we are more than happy to cater for their vegetarian or special needs. Just explain your requirements when you book and we will do the rest.

Whether you are on a special diet such as vegetarian or enjoy a scrumptious full English breakfast with ample portions or even if you do not want any breakfast at all, I look forward to hearing from you. Call me on (01202) 425047.

Conferences in Bournemouth, the Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum and Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house B and B

Well the political conference season is soon upon us and I see that the Liberal Democrats and the UK Independence Party (UKIP) are booked into the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC).

Naturally, if delegates are looking for a comfy hotel bed and breakfast guest house (B & B) in which to stay, as always, they are very welcome, but thinking about political conferences reminded me of the Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum in Tolpuddle, Dorset.

Judging from the leaflet in Newpoint Hotel reception which is sub-titled 'From arrest, through hell, to freedom', it could be a harrowing experience and one that might set the political parties in the right frame of mind for deciding how to make the world a better place for us over the next year.

(In the Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum leaflet it shows a drawing of a thatched cottage which is my excuse for including my random snap of a thatched cottage taken I forget where in the West Country.)

Naturally, whatever, their political persuasion, political delegates are always welcome at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast. Our scrummy breakfasts will set them up for even the longest of political days and their good night's sleep in our comfy beds will do as much as possible to prevent them falling asleep even through the most boring of speeches.

(On the other hand, their visit to the Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum might have a different effect on their sleep habits.)

As I write this, I notice that the Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum is currently closed due to flooding so, if you are thinking of paying them a visit, it is advisable to check with Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum on their web site and perhaps by telephone to avoid any disappointment or wasted journey.

Classic old vintage cars at Beaulieu National Motor Museum and Southbourne beaches with mid-week break at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house

I spotted this old, vintage or classic car whilst out for a walk and couldn't resist taking a quick snap. I love old vintage and classic cars. There's just something about them that is indefinably mysterious. They tell so many stories about the people who owned them - well, in my imagination, anyway.

Which all got me to thinking about the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu in the New Forest so I checked out the leaflet we have in the reception of Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house (B & B) and it really looks very interesting. Not only do they have, according to the leaflet, humble cars such as my forefathers would have driven but they also have top of the range vehicles and historic racing cars.

So, if you fancy combining a day trip to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu in the New Forest with walks along the beautiful beaches of Southbourne, Bournemouth, perhaps for a mid-week break, why not call me on (01202) 425047. Believe me, if there is one thing I love more than old, vintage and classic motorcars, it's giving discounts for midweek breaks.

I look forward to hearing from you :-)

Bride, groom and wedding parties welcome at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house B and B

I love weddings. They widen the smile on my face and make the world look a much nicer place. I still fondly remember our wedding day when my husband, Noel, and I got married. It's a memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

All of which means that I know how important everything running smoothly is for brides and grooms on their wedding days and, if they are staying at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house B and B, I will do everything in my power to be flexible with accommodation arrangements to help make your day special.

If you are looking for a bed and breakfast (B & B) guest house hotel accommodation for yourself as a bride or groom or for your wedding party, why not call me and see what I can do to help.

Dorset Teddy Bear Museum in Dorchester day out from Southbourne hotel bed and breakfast guest house B and B

Do you like my teddy bear? I have to confess that it isn't mine but belongs to my niece who popped in to see me the other day. I thought it was sweet so took a picture and couldn't resist sharing it with you.

All of which got me to thinking about teddy bears in general and I remembered that I had a leaflet in reception for the Dorset Teddy Bear Museum in Dorchester. Apparently, it has been seen on Blue Peter and is open summer and winter.

So, if you are staying locally at a Bournemouth bed and breakfast guest house (B & B) and you fancy a day out, perhaps with your daughter, to see lots of interesting and intriguing teddy bears, the Dorset Teddy Bear Museum might be for you.

Visitors to Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) welcome at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast (B and B)

Although Bournemouth has such truly magnificent beaches (see picture on right), many people visit Bournemouth for the entertainments, conferences, exhibitions and events that are available at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) and I can see that there is an excellent programme up and coming in the next few months.

Scanning the Bournemouth International Centre programme for October 2008, The Moody Blues and The Manfreds particularly catch my eye. Perhaps the Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast will be less busy by then and I will be able to catch these excellent acts.

On the other hand, if you are visiting the BIC for a conference, exhibition, entertainment or event, or are visiting Southbourne or Bournemouth for a short weekend romantic break, you will always be welcome at the Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house (B & B).

We pride ourselves on the cleanliness and comfort of our accommodation provided with a welcoming smile at truly competitive and affordable bed and breakfast prices.

I look forward to hearing from you :-)

Golf and golfing clubs in Bournemouth close to Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house B and B

According to the BBC, there are 2.5 million golfers playing golf in the UK so without doubt some of them must be coming to Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house (B and B) so I thought I should add some more details about places to play golf in Bournemouth in addition to my little article about Solent Meads Golf Centre at Hengistbury Head.

Queens Park Golf Course (telephone and bookings) is a little further away from my B & B than Solent Meads Golf Centre and boasts a number of reasons why it is worth a visit, including
  • It is pay and play so available to visitors
  • No handicap required
  • Advance booking possible to ensure your tee-off time
  • Centrally located just off the A338 Wessex Way on the edge of Bournemouth
  • Free Car Parking
Of course, before travelling it is always a good thing to check availability and that it meets your golfing needs so you might find the other Queens Park Golf Course web site helpful.

Happy golfing :-)

British Junior National Championships in Bournemouth tennis players welcome at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house (B and B)

Tennis is a game I've always wanted to play and every time I get a few moments free from running my bed and breakfast guest house (B & B) in Southbourne, Bournemouth, I like to watch the experts playing tennis on television. I love the curl of the ball as it flashes over the net and the remarkable athleticism of the players.

For years, the UK has been struggling in this sport and it is wonderful now to see people like young Scots Andy and Jamie Murray doing well internationally.

So it was with great excitement that I noticed that the British Tennis LTA was running part of their British Junior National Championships in Bournemouth at West Hants Club which is not far from my Newpoint Hotel.

Amazingly, age ranges vary from 16 and under right down to 10 and under for these junior championships.

Well, it looks a little bit too late for this tennis fan to take up the sport and compete with these young stars :-(

So, it looks as if I will have to limit my active tennis to supporting the youngsters from the sidelines - and of course providing them with a hearty breakfast to start off their tennis tournament day when they stay at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house (B & B).

Satellite navigation helps find places to see and things to do while staying at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house B and B

If you are staying at Newpoint hotel guest house bed and breakfast (B & B), satellite navigation (sat nav) is a great way of finding your way around Southbourne, Bournemouth, Poole and the surrounding areas of Dorset.

I love my sat nav because it takes the worry out of finding places to see. If you want to go to Mudeford Quay to see the crabbing or visit Christchurch Priory for the breathtaking architecture, just pop the address into your satellite navigation system and let the worldwide network of computers and satellites look after you. Sure, I know there are horror stories in plenty reported by the media but there are settings in sat navs to avoid cart tracks and unmade up roads which can limit the chances of such problems.

If you are keen to get out further afield and visit the New Forest, Beaulieu, Bucklers Hard, the Dorset Teddy Bear Museum, Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum, Abbotsbury Children's Farm, Putlake Farm, Swanage Railway, Abbotsbury Swannery, Haynes International Motor Museum, Mapperton Manor House or the many other local attractions, places to visit and things to do, in my opinion, satellite navigation is an enormous asset.

(Not to mention the domestic arguments with my husband that it avoids for somebody who doesn't know their left from their rights!)

:-)

Surfing facilities near to Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast, guest house, B and B and Boscombe Pier, Bournemouth, Dorset

I was visiting Bistro on the Beach for lunch and noticed a pile of sand near to Boscombe Pier where the new surfing facilities are expected soon.

It looked to me that the sand was being gathered to be put in the bags that will form the barriers and make the waves for all the surfers who will be visiting this great new surfing destination.

I've tried riding a surfboard a couple of times and was completely lamentable so perhaps I'd better leave it to those who are younger and fitter when the facility arrives and stick to providing comfortable hotel bed and breakfast guest house accommodation and a great breakfast to start their day.

Plus, of course, I might pop down, if I have a minute, and check out some of those lean mean surfing machines, with the permission of my husband, of course :-)

Mudeford Quay seabirds worth a visit while staying at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house (B and B)

Mudeford Quay seabirds are amazing and well worth a visit while staying at Newpoint Hotel bed and breakfast guest house (B and B), even if you are not usually a bird watcher, birder, twitcher or ornithologist. Christchurch Harbour is a protected wildlife refuge and is home to large populations of swans, waders and other bird life with over 320 species recorded.

Recently, when I visited Mudeford Quay for a relaxing wander around, there was somebody near me feeding the birds. Being in the middle of all those seabirds was like being in the middle of a storm of flying feathers and I was lucky enough to get a quick photo which I can now share with you.

Having had a piece of very nice cake snatched out of my hand by a seagull at St Ives, Cornwall many moons ago, I'm not sure if feeding the seagulls is a good idea but it certainly produced a great photo :-)
